Who We Are
The Urgent Relief and Development Association (ARD) is a Syrian humanitarian and development organization, officially registered under License No. 1486, dated April 22, 2025. ARD supports crisis-affected communities through urgent humanitarian response, recovery support, and the empowerment of individuals and families as they work toward a more stable and sustainable future.
ARD did not emerge from a passing idea. It grew out of a reality shaped by years of conflict in Syria, where millions of people faced threats to even the most basic elements of daily life. In cities and towns worn down by prolonged crisis, needs reached far beyond food and shelter, a child in need of education, a family searching for a livelihood, a home waiting to be rebuilt, a community trying to find its footing after years of loss and displacement.
That is the reality ARD was built to address. What began as an urgent humanitarian response to basic needs has evolved, alongside the communities it serves, into a partner in recovery and rebuilding. As needs have changed, so has our response.
Working alongside local communities, ARD is guided by the conviction that genuine development starts with people. Our work extends beyond emergency assistance to support education, strengthen livelihoods, rehabilitate essential infrastructure, and help individuals and families achieve self-reliance and contribute back to their communities.
Today, ARD continues this work guided by a simple belief: true recovery is not only about rebuilding structures. It begins with rebuilding human capital, restoring hope, and creating a path toward a more dignified, stable, and sustainable future.
